IRRIGATION SYSTEM FOR AVOCADO AND OTHER FRUIT TREES

 EQUIPMENT PROPOSED

a)    WATER SOURCE

·         Borehole, Dam/Reservoir, Ponds or Lake.

·         Water source should have sufficient water to meet Irrigation water requirement for the whole irrigation season or production season.

b)   IRRIGATION PUMP

·         Electric pump, Engine Pump (Petrol/Diesel), Electric pump powered by Generator, Solar powered pump.

·         Pump may be surface or submersble

·         Pump size is based on Pressure and Flow rate of the Irrigation system.

·         Pump should have capacity to distribute water at any point of the farm.

c)    WATER SUPPLY LINE

·         HDPE Pipes, PVC Pipes or GS Pipes and fittings

·         Pipes should be sized based on system flow rate and pressure rating. (25mm, 32mm, 40mm, 50mm, 63mm, 75mm, 90mm and above for higher flow rate…….. at pressure of PN06, PN08, PN10, PN12, PN16 and above for high pressure system.)

d)   WATER STORAGE TANK

·         POLYTANKS, GRP TANKS, Concrete Tank or Bladder Tanks

·         Tank has to be installed at the most elevated point of the farm so that water will reach every point of the farm by gravity.

e)    IRRIGATION RETICULATION LINES

·         Hdpe pipes for mainline and sub mainline.

·         PVC Pipes may also be used

·         Sizes of the pipes will base on the system discharge.

·         All pipes to be buried at an average depth of 300 to 400mm, with care not to damage existing services.

f)     FILTRATION SYSTEM

·         Disc filter, Sand Filter (If turbidity is high) or Screen Filter 130 Micron to avoid emitter clogging.

g)   AIR RELEASE VALVES

·         Available sizes from ¾” and above.

·         They remove air from the irrigation lines.

h)   IRRIGATION LINES AND ADJUSTABLE BUTTON EMITTERS

·         16mm 0.9mm 500m roll blind pipes.

·          Lay throughout the farm to supply water to every plant from sub mainline.

·         A 0-100lph adjustable button emitter to be installed in every plant.
